HOW MACMILLAN EASED THEIR CONTENT MANAGEMENT AND HOW THEY CAN NOW TRACK ALL THE PUBLISHING TASK.

STORY

Macmillan had major dependency on IT team for tasks like updating content on the website. An easier and intuitive content management system was required so that even a non-technical person can carry out these tasks efficiently.

Task flow and sharing of confidential files within different departments required a high level tracking and supervision. An internal tracking system was built on drupal which is now being used by the HR and other departments for efficient tracking and management of various tasks/initiatives.
Why was it difficult managing content on the website and how we solved it?

The website was built in 2002; much before the era of CMS (Content Management System).  Even the task like editing/deleting or adding new content required a technically skilled person.

Ebizon developed a new website on Drupal CMS which freed them of their dependency on IT team for content management.
Intranet as the solution for HR department

Ebizon developed and implemented an intranet solution on Drupal for a smooth and tracked sharing of confidential files for new publications within different departments. The intranet solution also eased the tracking of approvals happening at multiple levels. This intranet solution is currently being used by HR and other departments for efficient tracking at different levels.

RESULT

Macmillan is no more dependent on its IT staff to perform tasks around content update and management. Now a non-technical person can efficiently add/edit/delete content on the website.

And the primary benefits from the intranet solution are:

Since Macmillan sales staff generally works on field and visit the regional office/center once a week or fortnight; keeping track of their attendance and leave approvals on mails was a very big challenge. With Intranet in place, HR processes like leave approvals, employee joining documents, Salary slips, etc has become very smooth.

Sharing of confidential files within different departments is now easier and can be tracked.
